Cody Nichelson

Cody joined Elwood & Goetz as communications director in 2021, bringing more than seven years of strategic communications, digital marketing, and public relations experience to the firm. Inspired by E&G's values, he wanted the opportunity to help improve financial literacy and economic prosperity for more people in the communities we serve.

Elevated to chief of staff in 2022, Cody oversees the firm's day-to-day business operations, internal and external communications, brand strategy, and business development. As a member of the firm's Leadership Team, he serves as a senior advisor to the CEO and steers the integration of E&G's strategic vision and cross-functional initiatives.

Prior to joining E&G, Cody was the director of the Athens office for an independent marketing communications agency, where he contributed to campaigns for national, regional, and local clients across multiple industries, including technology, higher education, collegiate and professional sports, transportation, and healthcare.

Cody is a First Honor Graduate from the University of Georgia and graduated top of his class from the University's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Outside of the office, Cody volunteers with Georgia Key Club, Athens Area Habitat for Humanity, and the Athens Kiwanis Club. In 2022, he was selected for LEAD Athens, an intense year-long program of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce designed to develop effective community leaders. In 2023, Cody was named one of Athens Top 10 Under 40 for his efforts in helping shape a better Athens and implementing a bright vision for the community.

Cody enjoys spending time with his family — including his three rescue pups, Finn, Delilah, and Chance — playing tennis, watching football (Go Dawgs!), exploring the Classic City, and following the news.
